Shirley Jean Pratt

Shirley Jean Pratt, 63, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday April 22, 2012, in Central Point, OR. Shirley was born in Heber City, UT on December 18, 1948 to the late Sherman and Bonnie Pratt. She attended Ricks College in Idaho, and BYU in Provo, UT where she studied music and early childhood education. She married John David Fretz, March 27, 1970 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Shirley leaves behind a strong love of music and vibrant zest for life. She enjoyed going to the coast, flying kites, long car rides, but most of all she loved her grandchildren. They, along with her four children were the lights of her life. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, and quick smile. She was a joy to be around, and found instant friendship with all. She was extremely proud of her children and never missed an opportunity to brag about their accomplishments. She loved watching her grand babies play sports, and was one of the loudest fans in the crowd. She was proud of her strong pioneer heritage. Shirley’s working life was devoted to children and adults with disabilities. She had such a love for their sweet innocence, and was selfless in her service to them.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and spent most of her life in callings centered on music. Some of her greatest accomplishments were the choirs she directed, and the musical programs she presented. She brought a beautiful spirit to Sunday services with her choice of hymns, and musical interpretation.

Shirley is survived by her children; Sheri (Brent) Vaughan, Jennifer (Bruce) Crow, Kari (Ryan) Holley, and her favorite son Steven Fretz, her grandbabies; Alyssa, Austin, Andrew, Annika, Alek, Aiden, Anden, Ashden and Adeline and her sister; Peggy Weber. She is preceded in death by her parents; former husband, John David Fretz and her oldest grandbaby; James Michael.

Funeral services will be held Friday April 27, 2012 at 11:00am, with a viewing an hour before. LDS Chapel 2315 Taylor Rd, Central Point, OR. Burial will be held in Heber City, UT. Arrangements by: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford, Or 541-772-7111.
