Michael Brian Woodruff

U.S. Veteran

Michael Brian Woodruff (45) passed away September 10, 2013. He was born March 31, 1968 in Salt lake City, Utah to William Alma Woodruff and Katherine Lee Hollingshaus. He was the oldest of 7 siblings. Jenny Stratton (John), Katie Stratton (Jay), Scott Woodruff (Sandy), Holly Woodruff, Matt Woodruff (Mandy), Amanda Townley and Becky Schuman (Chris). Graduated from Cyprus High School in 1986 and joined the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman in the Marine National Guard reserve stationed at Fort Douglas at the University of Utah. He served in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during operation Desert Shield and operation Desert Storm. He studied at the University of Utah. He worked as a draftsman for PDI, in the mail sorting hub of the US Post office in Salt Lake City, and as a truck driver for Associated Foods, Inc. He married Cynthia Owens on April 25, 1991. Their children are Michael Brian Woodruff Jr., Nonnie Belle Woodruff, and Timothy Ryan Woodruff. He married Chrishell Hugie Norman in June 16, 2004. Her daughter from a previous marriage is Alix Norman. He loved to play in the outdoors and loved his Utes. He loved to hike, snowboard and enjoyed watching sporting events. He loved his dogs Rita and Holmes. Michael is preceded in death by his sister Holly and accompanied by his step-daughter Alix and dog Holmes. Funeral services are to be held Saturday, September 14, 2013, 4:00 pm at the LDS chapel at 6170 West Marcrest Drive (3005 South) West Valley City, Utah 84128. A visitation will be held prior to services from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Interment will be the following week at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Deseret First Credit Union under the name of Mike and Alix Woodruff. Arrangements under the direction of Broomhead Funeral Home.
