![]() Riverton-Jeannine Macklin Page 79, died on December 30, 2008 with her family by her side. She is now free of pain and suffers no more. She was born in Buhl, Idaho to LeRoy William Macklin and Martha Jane Fletcher on February 3, 1929. She went to Jordan High School where she met the love of her life, Noel James Page. Noel told her on their first date that he was going to marry her. They were married on Oct 14, 1946 and later solemnized their love in the Salt Lake Temple. She was very active in the old Riverton 3rd ward where she held many positions in the primary. She attended 34 of Noel’s World War II USS Saratoga (Navy aircraft carrier) reunions throughout the United States. Both she and Noel found and made long and lasting friendships. She also made many friends with the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department when officers would come to her home for haircuts given by Noel. Jeannine worked at Deseret Pharmaceutical for about 5 years, where she made numerous friends. She also worked at Riverton Drug for a number of years where again she made lots of friends and loved talking to customers. She had five children, Blaine (Mary Louise) Page of Riverton, Lori (David) Perkins of West Jordan, Kyle (Christine) Page of Riverton, Melinda (Darren) Flint of West Jordan, and Paralee, who died at birth. She has 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She has three living brothers, Bud Sorenson, Randy Sorenson, and Floyd Macklin and one sister, Fidella Bawden. Jeannine is preceded in death by her-mother-in-law, Cleo Page, and her parents LeRoy Macklin and Martha Sorenson. Jeannine spent countless hours helping take care of Cleo when she was very ill. Also preceded in death by brothers Cliff Macklin, Lamar Macklin, and sisters Wanda Wilcox, Carma Zito, and baby sister Marna. We will always remember our mom singing opera around the house, enjoying a good book and her sewing and knitting. She enjoyed creating homemade dipped chocolates and was a very good badminton player. In addition, Jeannine and Noel were accomplished dancers, with the “jitterbug” being their favorite dance. Jeannine had a kind heart and no matter where she went she made friends easily. She loved the time spent with her large family. A viewing will be held on Jan 4th (Sun) at the Broomhead Funeral Home (12590 S. 2200 W. Riverton) from 6-8pm. At Jeannine’s request there will be no formal funeral service. Instead a brief “standing” memorial will be held Jan. 5 (Mon) at Broomhead’s at 11am immediately following a second viewing from 10-11am. Interment will be at the Riverton Cemetery, 1500 W 13200 S.
