Leon John Willes, age 77, passed away on Dec. 23, 2008 at his home from complications of cancer surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Clifford W. and Edna Broomhead Willes on July 27, 1931 at his family home in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
He married LaZora Jean Baum on April 30, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including Bishop of the Kearns 13th Ward. He enjoyed vacations, camping and traditions with his family. He loved playing basketball, watching sports, especially the Jazz and Utes. He loved attending his grandkids & great-grandkids’ activities.
Survived by his loving wife Jean, children; Steven (Janet), Debbie (Brian) Woolsey, Heidi and Lisa; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and brother Kenneth (NaDene) Willes. Preceded in death by parents and sister Patricia McPhie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns E. Stake Center 4731 So. 4300 W. where friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 1 hour prior. Interment Redwood Memorial Park.
