![]() Audrey Atwood Rindlisbacher 1919-2008
Our much-loved and cherished Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend entered the Spirit World into the arms of her Heavenly Father and beloved eternal companion on November 29, 2008. She passed on in her home, in the same room as did our earthly father, with loved ones by her side. Mother entered mortality weighing only two lbs. – ½ lb. less than our father. They, indeed, had a special mission to fulfill here on earth – serving, influencing others for good, and welcoming eight children into their home and hearts, to rear, teach, and love. Mother was born to goodly parents, Walter Simeon and Ann Elizabeth Newman Atwood at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City, on May 22, 1919. She grew to adulthood on Atwood Blvd. in Murray, Utah. After graduation from Murray High School, she attended nursing school for two years at the University of Utah. Mother met her sweetheart, Harold, when they were both fifteen years of age. When she first heard the sweet, melodious strains of his violin playing, he won her heart instantly. They were married in Randolph, Utah, on September 6, 1938, and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept 6, 1939. Mother was very talented in dancing and in music. She played the piano, by ear, and played the clarinet in the school bands. She also played the drums in our family dance-band. Wow, what a drummer!! Our sweet Mom loved to serve and support her husband and family, always serving tirelessly and leaving her own needs until last. She was so fun to be around, famous for her cute sense of humor, and passing out “creamies” to anyone who came to her door, and filling their pockets with goodies. Everyone loved her. She loved the gospel and had a sweet testimony of its divinity. She loved being a visiting teacher and served in that capacity until her health did not permit her to do so any longer. Mom loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior. She was truly an elect lady. As her health declined, Mom always expressed gratitude and appreciation to those who came to her aid. She truly had an uncomplaining spirit. Mother is survived by four sons: Dale (ReNae), Jay (Jane), Chad (Kaylene), Kim (Carol); three daughters: Judy (Roger) Sorenson; Jill (Kim) Beckstead; Jan (Dan) Crane; daughters-in-law: Mary (Bruce) Jensen; Carol Rindlisbacher; 55 grandchildren; 129 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, oldest son, Hal; grandson, Scott R. Sorenson; her parents; three siblings and their spouses: Cleone (George) Dibble; Elaine (Les) Aamodt; and Glen Bud (Rene) Atwood. The family would like to give a special thanks for those who cared for Mom; Tim Sorenson and Brent Rindlisbacher (grandsons), and Kathie Hong, and Lyn Spencer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008, at 11:00 A.M. in the Country Park Stake Center, located at 2447 W. 11400 So. Friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Stake Center, and from 9:30 -10:30 A.M. prior to the services on Friday. Interment at the Riverton Cemetery. Thank you to those who have contacted or expressed thoughts and offered prayers for us. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund.
